Besenzoni introduces the new Application for operating gangways via a mobile phone or tablet. Keep everything under control with a tool which is always close at hand.
Apps, or mobile applications, are useful and efficient tools that have become part of our everyday life. Besenzoni have come up with an App especially for boat owners in order to make it easier for them to get on board when they arrive at the dock, even if they have forgotten the remote control for the gangway.
The company has designed a free, innovative App - for use on IOS 9.0 devices or higher and Android 7.0 or higher - which, combined with a receiver/adaptor that can be purchased via the Sales and Support network, enables you to operate the gangway (both the retractable and the external types) installed on your boat.
Besenzoni Unit Control (BUC), which has been designed by Besenzoni for use on mobile phones or tablets, which are always close at hand, uses simple bluetooth technology together with the standard infra-red or radio-wave remote control already provided when purchasing the gangway. The App can be connected to 4 or 8 devices at the same time, and can therefore be used by more than one family member and with more than one mobile phone or tablet.
The boat owner will need to provide, at the time of purchase, the gangway serial number so that our technicians can identify and install the bluetooth receiver/adaptor to be linked to that particular gangway.
Besenzoni have been synonymous with quality products for over 50 years thanks to their continuous attention to their production processes and to the technologies they employ. Once again, Besenzoni have proved that they are at the cutting edge by providing a sophisticated piece of software that responds to the need for instant solutions and ease of use required by today's boat owners.
Further information regarding operation can be found on our website at: www.besenzoni.it/landing/buc
BRP, a world leader in powersports, announced today Evinrude professional angler Chris Johnston won the Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) tournament held February 22-25, 2018 on the Harris Chain of Lakes, in Florida. Johnston, hailing from Ontario, earned his first FLW Tour win with a four-day total of 79 pounds, 6 ounces, taking home the $125,000 prize. In addition to Johnston, Evinrude anglers Glenn Brown and Anthony Gagliardi were also ranked in the top ten. Johnston now leads the 2018 Angler of the Year standings.
“I didn’t have a long run or big waves to deal with in this tournament, just short hops,” said Johnston. “The nice thing about running the Evinrude E-TEC G2 is not having to turn a wrench or do any maintenance at all on the motor since it was hung and still having the confidence that I’m going to get back to weigh-in every time. The other benefit of my Evinrude is that with the unbelievable fuel economy, I would fill up with fuel every night and never put more then $20 of gas in my tank. Those little things add up and give me the peace of mind to focus just on fishing.”
“All of us at Evinrude congratulate Chris on his outstanding performance and well-deserved win,” said Tracy Crocker, senior vice president and general manager, Evinrude. “With no break-in period, no oil changes, no scheduled maintenance for 5 years or 500 hours, and our industry-leading ten-year factory-backed extended service coverage, the Evinrude E-TEC G2 is designed to giving boaters the easiest ownership experience possible. We are proud to provide the engines relied on by so many top anglers.”
The total purse for the FLW Tour at the Harris Chain of Lakes presented by Lowrance was more than $930,000 with payouts given to the top 60 anglers in the Pro Division. The tournament was hosted by Lake County, Florida. The next event for FLW Tour anglers will be the FLW Tour at Lake Lanier presented by Ranger, March 8-11 in Gainesville, Georgia, hosted by Gainesville Convention & Visitors Bureau.
BRP's Evinrude engine line up, from 3.5 to 300 HP, offers customers superior value across a full range of applications, and are available at authorized Evinrude dealerships worldwide.
BRP, a world leader in powersports, announced today its Evinrude E-TEC engines are compliant to new Australian emissions standards.
Australian exhaust emissions standards for outdoor power equipment and marine engines were finalized in December, 2017. The standards will be phased in to allow the industry time to transition. As of July 1, 2018, new high polluting outdoor power equipment and marine engines, such as conventional carbureted two-stroke outboard engines, can no longer be imported into Australia. By July 1, 2019 only clean-technology outdoor power equipment and marine engines can be supplied to the Australian market.
“Evinrude direct injection outboard engines have, on average, a 90% reduction in emissions and over a 50% reduction in fuel consumption compared to conventional carbureted two-stroke engines,” said Jeff Wasil, engineering manager in Emissions Testing, Certification and Regulatory Development for BRP-Evinrude. “We've been delivering our clean-technology E-TEC and E-TEC G2 engines to Australia and the rest of the world all along. However, other major brands still choose to sell their older-technology engines in Australia. Nearly 50% of the outboard market in Australia is still comprised of conventional carbureted two-stroke engines. Some engine manufacturers may struggle to get engines to Australia that meet these new standards while maintaining the low weight and performance capabilities Australian consumers have come to expect from these older technology engines.”
Evinrude ETEC G2 outboard engines have the lowest total exhaust emissions of all combustion outboard engines and are the most fuel efficient marine engines available. They consume up to 20% less fuel and produce up to 30% more torque than competitive outboard engines, while providing the most effortless user experience in the industry. Furthermore, Evinrude ETEC engines meet all stringent exhaust emissions standards for outboard engines worldwide.

Hot on the heels of the 38 Open White Pearl, showcased by Mazu Yachts at Boot Dusseldorf in January, the Turkish boutique boat builder is delighted to announce a brand new model: the dynamic 52 Hard Top.
The 52 HT is built of carbon composite in a lightweight sandwich construction for rigidity and strength. Following very much in the vein of its Open models in terms of styling and performance, the extra length overall offers more interior volume and deck space, plus the addition of an open-sided, carbon composite hardtop for protection from the summer sun. In short, it continues the handcrafted, superyacht feel of the Mazu range with enhanced on-board comfort for extended overnight cruising.
“We’ve developed a bigger boat with stylishly sleek and aggressive profile to keep the centre of gravity low for optimal stability and seakeeping, while also offering exceptional comfort and performance,” says Halit Yukay, Mazu CEO and lead designer. In fact, the hull is just 15 centimeters higher than the 38 Open, but the interior layout provides for two guest cabins with separate bathroom facilities and a spacious dinette/lounge area. This is in addition to the large foredeck, protected cockpit, and open aft deck and swim platform.
Powered by twin Volvo IPS 800 engines of 600hp each, the yacht will have a top speed of around 37 knots and a cruising speed of 32 knots. The first 52 HT, already in build for a client at the Mazu shipyard in Istanbul, will be launched at the end of May before undergoing extensive sea trials.
The new model will then make its international debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival and Monaco Yacht Show this year. The base price of the Mazu 52 HT is expected to be €uro890,000.
Freedom Boat Club to Partner with Jeanneau Dealerships as Part of New European Boat Club Initiative
Freedom Boat Club (FBC), the world’s oldest and largest boat club with 150+ North American locations in 30 states and Canada, has just signed an alliance agreement with Jeanneau to cooperatively develop Freedom Boat Club franchises among its European dealer network.
According to FBC President and CEO John Giglio, the FBC franchise model is now being offered to Jeanneau retailers in Europe who have the opportunity to develop FBC locations in their local market using Jeanneau outboard-powered boats.
“Our Jeanneau European alliance grew out of a strong relationship with the Groupe Beneteau brands here in the U.S., as a growing number of our franchisees have placed Jeanneau, Four Winns and Glastron outboard boats in their fleets,” said Giglio.
“We are very pleased to be working directly with Jeanneau in the launch of our successful boat club franchise throughout Europe,” he added. “Jeanneau and its dealers clearly understand and embrace the benefits of the sharing economy, and the boat club model specifically.”
Based on current interest and development activity, Giglio expects to announce multiple Freedom Boat Clubs operational in France this spring, with additional expansion elsewhere throughout Europe to follow. A group of Jeanneau dealers attending the Miami International Boat Show are confirmed to meet with Freedom Boat Club executives to tour a large Florida-based Freedom Boat Club franchise operation.
Giglio believes the new international expansion will be good for business, but also very good for the more than 30,000 Freedom Boat Club members throughout North America and those who will join abroad.
“One of the most exciting aspects of this international expansion is our exclusive membership benefit featuring reciprocity,” he said. “Our Freedom Boat Club members around the world will enjoy full access to our fleet of boats wherever clubs exist, and that will now include international ports of call.”
“The boat clubs are a real trend that our dealers are keen to develop,” confirms Jean-Paul Chapeleau, Jeanneau CEO. “For Jeanneau dealers, it’s a unique opportunity to benefit from an experienced partner while launching this new service to our customers.”
Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN)announced that it has acquired Navionics S.p.A., a privately-held worldwide provider of electronic navigational charts and mobile applications for the marine industry.
“Navionics has long been known as a leading supplier of highly accurate navigational charts and mobile applications for boaters,” said Cliff Pemble, Garmin president and CEO. “By combining Navionics’ content with Garmin’s BlueChart® and LakeVü™ content, we will be able to offer the best available breadth and depth of coverage to our marine customers. Going forward, we plan to retain the Navionics brand and will continue to support Navionics’ existing customers.”
“Since our founding, Navionics has been passionate about creating products that enhance the boating experience,” said Giuseppe Carnevali, Navionics founder and president. “Garmin shares our passion for serving the marine industry, and is an ideal company to carry the strong brand and reputation of Navionics into the future.”
In addition to a popular boating app, Navionics has developed an extensive repository of nautical charts for oceans, rivers, and lakes. Many of these charts have been developed with Navionics’ proprietary surveys, done both in the field and with remote sensing such as satellite imagery and airborne laser scanners.
Navionics is headquartered in Viareggio, Italy, and employs more than 350 associates globally, who will be retained. Financial terms of the acquisition will not be released.
After taking part in the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Evo Yachts will also be at the Miami Boat Show 2018, from February 15 to 19, with its Evo 43’ HT: this stunning display model features sporty, aggressive styling and the latest generation full carbon T-top.
After the interest at the Fort Lauderdale Show, the Italian shipyard will be exhibiting at the next Miami Yacht Show, one of the USA’s most important marine industry events, to be held from February 15 to 19 at the Miami Marine Stadium.
At the GMarine stand, the exclusive Evo Yachts dealer for Florida, Mexico and the Caribbean, visitors will be able to feast their eyes on the Evo 43' HT in its Pearl White version. Elegant and refined, the first 43' Evo Yachts distinguishes itself with its minimalist design and succeeds in combining the Made in Italy style with hi-tech solutions and excellent performance. Furthermore, the basic model has been enriched with solutions that meet the specific needs of American owners.
As for design, the refined lines are enhanced by the Pearl White livery, the blue windshield and the Light Grey outdoor cushions, while the latest generation full carbon T-top gives a stylish modernist aesthetic. Options designed specifically for the US market include double BBQ grill, icemaker and microwave in the dinette and, finally, "tropical" air conditioning.
Sensational on water performance is provided by the deep V hull with an 18° deadrise angle and by the two VOLVO PENTA IPS 600 of 435 hp each, which guarantee a maximum speed of 38 knots and 28 knots cruising.
Azimut Yachts is attending the Miami Yacht Show once again this year, where three yachts will be given their American premiere. Two are in the top-of-the-range Grande line: the Grande 27METRI, which was awarded the “Most Achieved Trophy” at the World Yachts Trophies in the 80’ to 125’ category, and the Grande 35METRI, the collection’s flagship and the winner of four prestigious international awards. The third yacht being premiered is Azimut 60, an 18-meter model with sleek, aggressively attractive lines.
The featured boats at the Azimut Yachts stands during the American boat show, held from February 15 to 19, will be the two jewels in the Grande collection that have been such a success and received so many international awards in recent months.
The Grande 27METRI, designed by Stefano Righini, is a wide body superyacht with a unique concept, creating perfect harmony between flowing exterior lines and unparalleled interior volumes for the segment. The vertical bow and the big full-height windows, which rise from the hull and extend up into the infrastructure, give the boat a sporty, edgy personality and are its signature features. The Main Deck contains the owner’s suite and offers the possibility of five cabins, in what is an almost unique feature for a boat this size.
Azimut Grande 35METRI, making its debut on the US market, has received a remarkable four international awards in recent months, the most recent being “Best New Production Yacht Design” at the Boat International Design & Innovation Awards 2018.
Making its entry onto the market in September 2017, the 35 is the biggest yacht yet built by the shipyard and offers unprecedented solutions for a boat this size, drawing on carbon fiber technology and the expertise of Stefano Righini, who defined the concept and designed the exteriors.
The Grande 35METRI is a Wide Body RPH (Raised Pilot House) yacht with sleek exteriors, featuring exceptionally sized full-height windows. Unique in this category is the option to add an additional Sundeck, offering almost 30 square meters on a third level, with access from the Upper Deck in the stern. This solution doesn’t affect the balance of volumes and retains the model’s overall dynamism. The entire superstructure and the hardtop are built from pure carbon fiber, alternating with epoxy resin.
